NetWatch is website monitoring software for the Mac. Give it a list of your favorite websites, and it will automatically check them for changes. You can have it notify you of changes in a variety of ways. You can also have it check the websites on a timed schedule.
How to Use
To add a website, click on the Add button. Enter the URL in the first text box. After that, enter the name of this website (e.g. Apple Computer). In the next section of the dialog box, choose your notification options. You can have it play a sound (choose the sound to test it) and/or show SiteChange, a cool gliding notifier. It will slide down from the top of your screen to notify you of any changes. To save your settings, click Save. To abort, click Cancel. If you want to modify a website's settings after you create it, select it and click Modify. To remove it, click Delete (NOTE: this cannot be undone). To check just the selected website, click Check. To check each one in turn, click Check All. (The first time you check each site, the status will show up as "First-time download." After this, the site will be compared with the previous version when checked.) To stop a check in progress, click Stop at the top. To just skip the site NetWatch is checking, click Skip.
The preferences window is accessed by clicking Prefs in the Control Center. The first option tells NetWatch to do a Check All operation as soon as you open the program. The second one controls whether or not NetWatch automatically opens at system startup. The third one controls how long NetWatch waits while connecting to a site before it gives up (and whether it gives up at all).
Registration
NetWatch only costs $12 to register. That's not so much! Registering disables all restrictions and shareware notices. It also encourages us to keep developing quality shareware and enhancing our existing products. Until you register, you can only have two sites to check and the application only runs for 5 minutes at a time. If you like NetWatch and continue to use it, please register. Known Issues
NetWatch does currently not work through proxies. We aim to resolve this issue in future. Also, the values that appear in the text boxes in the Preferences dialog are problematic, and we are working to fix this problem soon.
